I am participating in a show at Lesa Gallery in Wellington in June. It’s an oscillating painters group (another way in saying group show) and has approx 7 emerging artists from around NZ showing.
The show is called Open Narratives and is on from the 25th June through to the 25th July. Opening night being Friday 25th June, at 6pm. I’ll be travelling down to Wellington for the opening, so if you’re in the area make sure you come along and say hi.
Here is a sneaky preview of the 2 pieces I will have in the show. They are inspired by a woman named Josie. I met her whilst doing the interviews for my upcoming solo show, Interviews with Escapists. She was sexually abused by an older male at the age of 10 years old and didn’t tell her parents. From this tragic event in her life she developed anorexia and bulimia to deal with what happened to her. She is now 42 years old and is pursuing charges against the man who abused her. It took her a long time to deal with her demons, however the memories of her past will forever haunt her.
